Ghoom charakhra saainyyaan da teri kattan waali jeewe
Spin, Lord’s spinning wheel, long live the one who spins You
کتن والی جیوے
Kattan waali jeewe
Long live the one who spins You
لڑیاں وتن والی جیوے

Long live the one who spins Your strands

Can you share it's explanation?
ReplyDeleteWhat does charkha signify here .?
ReplyDeleteIts about spinning of time
Deletechakar khana circle dizzy? or ghoom ghomna spinning ?
ReplyDeletei think he is talking about whirling dervishes or he is talking about circle of time
ReplyDeleteThe Coke Studio (Season 11) version with Abida Parveen and Ali Azmat is fantastic. There are more lyrics that what is posted here. They're wonderfully poetic!
ReplyDeleteMy interpretation is that it's a song saying "Divine, I am painted in your image. People may think I'm crazed, but I am one with you and I am spinning in your ecstasy. Divine, please keep spinning the wheel of love, devotion, and ecstasy within me." There's more in there, of course, some of it is much more literal. I agree it could be a reference to Whirling Dervishes and the way that they spin. It's a beautiful metaphor, spinning the yarn of my heart with the wheel of love and devotion.
